When I first watched the video I sat there in wonder. Trying to control my inner psych, and yet I couldn’t help feeling like she pulled back her truth and her colours a little too bold. I see a woman of power and strength. Courage and bold smiles. Conviction even. And yet, something in this video left me wanting more than I got and I realized it had nothing to do with the song. And everything to do with owning the song, instead of trying to control it. I read into some classical training, which I can’t say is true in the moment of writing this, and this part that wants to be close to you, me, her next fan.
Then I remembered how intimating music videos can be. Singing and acting are two distinct skills and if you’re already letting your conclusions take over – you’ve forgotten why you’re here. The music.

The video for “He Only Loves Me” reached the Yallwire.com Top 5 Most Watched Videos chart, while her youtube cover of George Strait’s “Amarillo By Morning” received over 100,000 views in just 2 days, after being featured on Country Rebel’s website. Her cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” matched that number, after being featured on the same site. But, for the young Texas native, nothing can compare to walking in the footsteps of her legendary idols. Her latest video release, the original “I Can Be Your Senorita” has already received over 10,000 views.
Remember it’s not how a music video looks like – it’s how the music makes you feel. And in this track, I can feel the excitement, awe, strength, humbleness and bubbly-sass, the desire, and the opening to this very thing of opening oneself onto the world. And that awkward dating excitement as she finds herself moving closer to each new soul that dares to listen.
