Jay Elle is a New York City based singer, songwriter and guitar player. Jay Elle’s heart and emotions are his driving forces. His curiosity and appetite for life makes him an avid listener of all music genres. Influenced by classical music as much as pop, rock, rap, country and R&B, Jay Elle believes that songs should carry positive energy and messages that bring people together.
With that distinctive sound of country strums its cords, lathered up in soft vocals, and easy sounds; Jay Elle’s latest is the epitome of holidays, easing it up, and sickly sweet vibrations that ricoshay endlessly. And while one of the title tracks of the album talking about the requirements of fixing, I think this album is pretty much ok. (And that moment it blurred with a little Oasis felt amazing). OK, is such a bland vanilla word. That’s not OK. This groove is far too complimentary to settle on OK. In fact, it’s got its own flavour of ambience and a perfect alteration to the Ed Sharran and Co. Culture. I’d imagine his name being on the consideration pool for opening acts especially after reading:
Coming on the heels of his Top 40 charting song “Never Dreamed,” mixed by Brent Kolatalo (Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, One Republic, https://brentk.com), Jay Elle asked Brent to mix all the tracks of this new EP, including the first single “Ease Up (Into Love).” The result is a dynamic, polished and tasteful mix of “Ease Up,” a thoughtful well-crafted song, offering words of wisdom to those looking for love.
And while the country’s not all light orbs and dusty clouds, I heard a little Beatles gone dark and contemporary on their guitar work on that track called “in the blade”. And of course not enough to corrupt or replace.
So then who is Jay stripped unplugged of the influences that makes his sound palatable? I can imagine you’d say something like: mature musicality, youthful vocals, dreamy cotton cords, gentle masculinity, and easy flow. A totally deezable playlistable sequence of tracks that’s designed for the foreground and the background.
